JasperNet Email 2.0 Migration

NOTE: The following values should be used in any of the tutorials below:

Username/Email Address/Account Name: yourusername@manhattan.edu


Outlook Express

1. Create "New" Account for JasperNet Email 2.0 http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77659

2. Remove your "Old" JasperNet Account

2a. Click Tools --> Accounts

2b. Select the "Mail" tab

2c. Select the "old" account (probably the default, and probably named mail.manhattan.edu) and click the "Remove" button.


Your JasperNet Email 2.0 account has been successfully configured!! You can access your new account by expanding the "imap.gmail.com" section in the "folders" pane of Outlook Express. All of your "old" messages are still available in the "Personal Folders" section.


Outlook 2003

1. Create "New" Account for JasperNet Email 2.0 http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77661

2. Remove your "Old" JasperNet Account

2a. Click Tools --> Email Accounts

2b. Select "View or Change existing email accounts" then click "Next"

2c. Select the "old" account (probably the default, and probably named mail.manhattan.edu) and click the "Remove" button. Click Finish.


Your JasperNet Email 2.0 account has been successfully configured!! You can access your new account by expanding the "imap.gmail.com" section in the "folders" pane of Outlook 2003. All of your "old" messages are still available in the "Personal Folders" section.


Outlook 2007

1. Create "New" Account for JasperNet Email 2.0 http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77689

2. Remove your "Old" JasperNet Account

2a. Click Tools --> Email Accounts

2b. Select "View or Change existing email accounts" then click "Next"

2c. Select the "old" account (probably the default, and probably named mail.manhattan.edu) and click the "Remove" button. Click Finish.

Your JasperNet Email 2.0 account has been successfully configured!! You can access your new account by expanding the "imap.gmail.com" section in the "folders" pane of Outlook 2007. All of your "old" messages are still available in the "Personal Folders" section.

Windows Mail

1. Create "New" Account for JasperNet Email 2.0 http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77696

2. Remove your "Old" JasperNet Account

2a. Click Tools --> Email Accounts

2b. Select "View or Change existing email accounts" then click "Next"

2c. Select the "old" account (probably the default, and probably named mail.manhattan.edu) and click the "Remove" button. Click Finish.

Thunderbird 2

1. Create "New" Account for JasperNet Email 2.0 http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77662

2. Backup your old messages.

2a. In the "All Folders" Pane (on the left side), "right-click" on "Local Folders" and select "New Folder..."

2b. Name the folder something like "ARCHIVE"

2c. Drag all other messages and folder (that the system will allow) from "Local Folders" into the newly created "ARCHIVE" folder.

3. Remove your "Old" JasperNet Account

3a. Click Tools --> Account Settings

3b. Select the "Old" account and click the "Remove Account" button.


Your JasperNet Email 2.0 account has been successfully configured!! You can access your new account by expanding the "username@manhattan.edu" section in the "All Folders" pane of Thunderbird. All of your "old" messages are still available in the "Local Folders" section.


Netscape Communicator

"#### Netwscape users will need to migrate to Mozilla Thunderbird ####"

Install Thunderbird: http://www.mozilla.com/thunderbird/

Do NOT migrated settings from a previous account.

1. Create "New" Account for JasperNet Email 2.0 http://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=77662

2. Migrate your OLD messages from Netscape http://kb.mozillazine.org/Importing_folders

You'll need to install the ImportERxportTool extension (step 1 in link above).


Your JasperNet Email 2.0 account has been successfully configured!! You can access your new account by expanding the "username@manhattan.edu" section in the "All Folders" pane of Thunderbird. All of your "old" messages are still available in the "Local Folders" section.
